The year is almost over, and we have just two more weeks before 2023 is here. The year has seemed to fly by!
What are your plans for your online business in the future?
I have been thinking about the same thing myself, looking for new opportunities to expand my skills and ventures I might be interested in. It can feel a bit overwhelming because right now, I’m still trying to slow down from the whirlwind of the past year. Now I have to start fresh?
As it turns out, I am not really starting fresh here, I am just making a refresh. There is a difference.
A fresh start is basically starting over, whereas a refresh is tweaking what we already have and making it work for our business going forward. Times change – and so do we. Despite the old saying ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’, it also makes sense to start a new adventure…even a mini one.
It’s always a good idea to look back on your past accomplishments before starting a new endeavor. You’ve come this far, so you deserve a pat on the back. Even if it’s been baby steps, you should still be proud of your hard work and dedication. Taking risks, even small ones, can be scary and difficult but you still did it. Or perhaps you’re thinking about starting a new adventure now. Give yourself credit for not being afraid to even consider new things.
I can tell you that even after two years with my online business, I still get scared. With today’s economy, high inflation and everyone still trying to bounce back from the pandemic, how can we not be? I sometimes worry if a new venture I start will fail and any money I’ve invested will go to waste. I worry sometimes that my current sales will dwindle. I worry about how to evolve myself and my business.
Ok, so I worry. Everyone worries. It’s a hard habit to break. Honestly though, worry is a wasted mental energy. Instead, turn that worry into focus. Put that focus into action and you’ll find that instead of being anxious, you’ll start to feel excited.
Here’s some tips:
- For any new venture, make sure you do all your research. This helps minimize the risks and will give you more confidence.
- Instead of focusing on the scary stuff, focus on the positive. New adventures can be exciting!
- Make a plan with a budget. Don’t be afraid to take chances but also know your limits in terms of your finances.
- See yourself as successful. You’ll be surprised at how having a positive mindset alone can help push you to new heights.
- Sometimes all you need is a wish. Put that wish out there. Think to yourself, “I really want to try ______ in my business.” It’s amazing how a simple wish can move your mind in the right direction to make it happen.
Now that we’ve addressed that we all worry, we can work on how to overcome it. Remember, it wouldn’t feel like an achievement if it didn’t involve some risk and worry. And yet, when you do succeed, all of that makes success so much sweeter.
Don’t underestimate yourself, you can grow your business even further than you imagined. And while I tell you that…I’ll keep telling myself the same.
After all, we’re in this together.
